Dear Future 121 Oakland Rd Homeowner,
We’ve lived in this home for almost a decade, raising our two girls in it and passing many family milestones within its walls. A home could not be more loved – from the moment we moved in we’ve taken great care of it and also taken great pride in its upkeep. To us, it’s the perfect family home – we’re only moving because we’ve outgrown the space. The bones of the house are solid – it’s a center hall Colonial with ample space for entertaining.
We love the centerpiece of our living room, which is a wood-burning fireplace. Our Maplewood room is light-filled and cozy, perfect for an office or playroom. The kitchen is updated and has an eat-in space that’s great for a casual family dinner. The basement is one of our favorite spaces – we updated it with new carpeting (2016), whitewashed walls and a wall of built-in bookshelves and shelving for toys or games.
Our bedrooms are light-filled with ample closet space. I love that we have a walk-up attic – we used it for all our storage, but it could easily be refinished as an office or fourth bedroom. Outdoors we have a lovely bluestone patio and new fencing (2015 – fully fenced in with two gates). Our favorite part of our yard is the picturesque ivy that covers one side of our garage in a canopy of green year-round.
By far one of the best things about our home is the location. Oakland Road is filled with children and collectively we allow them to roam freely from one yard to the next, making it one of those idyllic blocks people moving relocating to the suburbs dream of. We’re also walking distance from Clinton Elementary, which we think is the best elementary school in town. Finally, the jitney stops just 1.5 blocks away, making the city commute a breeze. What more can I say? We love this house and will be sad to leave it.
