Dear Future Homeowners of 3 Bradford Avenue

When we moved to this home almost 6 years ago from Brooklyn, we never imagined the life and community that was waiting for us here. Our now 7yr old was just 16 months at the time, and we were eager for more space, a yard to run around in, and a place for our family to grow. And wow, did we get that. We now have two kids (our younger one is 5), and this home has been the place where they feel best and safest. It’s where we have grown together, played, laughed, and created formative memories. We love eating out back on our patio in warmer months—the kids love to play in our large yard after dinner. I’ve even learned how to garden, and the plant beds are adorned with colorful flowers, especially in mid to late spring. The kids ride their bikes and scooters or play basketball in our driveway. We’ve hosted birthday parties, baby showers, letter writing campaigns, book clubs, and holiday dinners. We have made the best memories here. When we first saw this house, we fell in love with the kitchen— two ovens and a Viking six-burner stove, stainless steel appliances, and gorgeous morning light for the breakfast table. Our kids love to bake (as do I), and we love to create fun recipes. Or run science experiments, or make slime and spend all afternoon playing with it at the kitchen table. On the weekends, we have a family movie night, snuggled up in our living room. We play games at the dining room table. And our bright and sunny playroom provides hours of fun for our children. The giggles that come from that room are contagious. The absolute greatest thing about this house is that it’s situated in the best neighborhood in the area. The playground two blocks away is an easy and popular meeting spot — at any time of the day you can meet up with numerous young families. This little nook of Gregory is bursting with young couples and families as well as those who have lived here for decades, and everyone is always warm, smiling, and stops to say hello. Our kids, as well as us, have found a community here that always has our back, we’re always looking out for each other, be it stopping for a chat, meeting up for a coffee or tea, or running an errand for a neighbor or friend. We love “hitting up Club” (the neighborhood playground) with friends, going to the town pool in the summer, hiking the reservation (The Fairy Trail in Millburn is our fave, but we love Eagle Rock and Hemlock Falls too), going for scooter rides around the neighborhood, and walking the loop at the reservoir. The Turtle Back Zoo membership is a great deal when you’re only five minutes away. There’s mini golf, an ice skating rink, a lovely downtown area, and we are sandwiched between Maplewood/South Orange and Montclair. We are never at a loss for things to do. But I do think we love hanging out at home about as much as anything else. This house has so much life and love in it, and we hope the next owners find the joy and comfort that this house has brought us. Best wishes!
