Dear Future Homeowners of 466 Academy Street

When we decided to move out of Manhattan and buy a house in New Jersey, we were so overwhelmed. We just knew in our hearts that when we saw the right one we would just "know". That is exactly what happened when we walked into our house. It's the perfect blend of quirky and classic, it was like the brownstone we always wanted but with a yard! The community here on Academy and the surrounding streets is amazing. Our neighbors have become our close friends. We have had barbecues, birthdays, drinks on the porch and even more importantly looked after one another. It really is a special community. Our house has hosted many parties, celebrations and personally brought us and a lot of our friends good luck. It sounds strange but there always was a good energy in our home. The light at different times of the day in each room is unique and of course our beautiful Oak tree in the back is one that we will always treasure. The first time we walked on the lawn together we looked up at that tree and couldn't believe it was ours. We hope you will feel the same way. We have put a lot of thought into our small gardens around the home and the organic herb garden in the back. A big thing for us when buying this house was convenience. We are commuters so walking to and from the train in 13 minutes (yes we timed it) is the best. Of course you have all the schools nearby and a ton of food options. Sabatino's pizza is the best and we have ordered the General Tso's Chicken pizza more times than we can count. You can even walk to downtown Maplewood or South Orange and enjoy everything. During the pandemic this house kept us safe and we felt so lucky to be living here surrounded by the love and support of our neighbors. We are really proud of the work and love we have poured into it. We are sad to leave but feel like we are starting a new chapter in our lives and passing this house on to the right family just feels right.
