Dear Future Homeowners

We can remember like it was yesterday driving out from the city to come to Maplewood because we heard such great things about the town, and the people and the rumored direct line to New York City in 35 minutes. I can still recall walking into the home and being taken by the crafted hardwood inlay floors, curved ceilings and 10-foot ceilings. The architectural details stayed with me that day. The bedrooms were large and that was a welcome change from our small 2-bedroom apartment. Like many, we had one child on the way, and we wanted him to have his own bedroom and space. When we walked around the house, we just felt like there was so much space for us to grow as a family. Especially when we walked up to the attic. It was the reason we bought the place. It felt magical. It was another bedroom, another playroom. And that's exactly what it was and has been for us. On special Sundays the attic turned into a brunch spot called Dancie’s for the kids. Brunch would be served in a tux and dance parties would ensue. We also renovated the basement so the kids could have even more recreational space to play. Many kid’s birthdays were celebrated in the basement with neighbors, with the gratuitous disco ball for sublevel dancing and good times. The kitchen has been loved and many Turkeys and stuffings have been cooked and indulged like the sign on the walls says. The house is really happy when a lot of people are in it, and one of the best days of the year is the leftovers party that we've thrown for all of our New York friends who still come out to celebrate. The living room is transformed into a candlelit space where thirty people bring leftovers and say what they’re thankful for. One important feature of the house. There is a chocolate tree in the front yard. (It’s the little one on the far left.) It’s important to know, that when the snow officially covers the grass, somehow the tree grows chocolate bars from its branches for the young ones to pick. Last I checked, there's no other tree like it in the world and it could be on your property. (Please keep up the tradition.) There is a lot of love in this house, and you will most certainly add to it. If you’re worried that you can’t find good pizza in the suburbs, rest easy, Arturo’s is just a walk down the hill to town. As is the train station, and parks. We’ve loved every minute in Maplewood and we know you will too. And it all starts here at 7 Madison Avenue.
