When Pollock Properties Group founders Charlie and Vanessa Pollock first moved to NYC in 1996, they lived in the East Village. They lived very close to Union Square and loved visiting the farmers market there, even though they were too broke as starving artists to buy anything. At that very farmers market, there were all kinds of options for vegetables, fruits, cheese and there was also a very popular family-owned pretzel stand.

Flash forward to January 2023, Charlie and Vanessa have lived in SOMA for almost 17 years, and that very pretzel shop opens its first brick and mortar storefront in South Orange, just two blocks from where the Pollocks live! Now the Pollocks and the Martin's Pretzel both reside in South Orange, and are basically neighbors again!

We popped into the shop to grab some goodies after the “grand opening” (which is funny to say, being that they have been in business at the farmers market for over 40 years). We are thrilled to report that this remarkable little pretzel shop provides so many beautiful, gourmet delights. Its a farmers market stand come to life, here every day! We picked up the dill horseradish dip, horseradish mustard, and an absolutely delicious, vegan salami spread. Per the owners instructions, Vanessa put a big spoonful of that spread into a bowl of gluten-free pasta, and it was probably the best penne she had had in the last decade.

The pretzel shop runs an afterschool special for those South Orange middle schoolers to spill out of the school and onto this sidewalk: half of a large soft pretzel and a bottle of chocolate milk for $5. Heavenly!

While they will still be at the Union Square, farmers market, as well as others in the region, we are super excited to have them in South Orange. We hope that you will visit this new storefront soon, and tell them that your friends at Pollock Properties group sent you!
