Meet Dave Marayag, our Livian partner in the Philippines.  For the past 5 years Dave has given back to his local community in countless ways, including creating PROJECT 22, in celebration of his 22nd birthday, which is a local community project that distributed 22 face shields with messages of hope to 22 public transpo drivers and the creation of a Christmas gift giving program that has provided 70 children with Christmas gifts.

Care. Serve. Give Philippines on the MOVE!!!

The recent graduation ceremony held at Sta. Clara Elementary School was a resounding success, providing a platform to honor three exceptional students who demonstrated outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and character. These students were recognized with cash incentives, medals of excellence, certificates of recognition, and exclusive Care.Serve.Give (CSG) merchandise, evoking pure joy and pride. In addition to individual recognition, our commitment extended to contributing to the stage decorations and providing meals for the dedicated teachers who played a crucial role in shaping the success of these exceptional students.

Celebrating the Success of the Community Heroes Program: A Generous Sponsorship Unveils Remarkable Stories of Courage

In a world where everyday heroes often go unnoticed, the Community Heroes Program aimed to shine a spotlight on outstanding individuals within our community who have made significant contributions and served as inspiring role models.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship provided, the program recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of its inaugural initiative. This blog post dives into the heartwarming experience of the first recipient, the Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade, and the impact that the support has made possible.

A Glimpse into Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade:

The Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade, founded on February 15, 1991, has been a steadfast presence in our community for over three decades. This 32-year-old firefighter volunteer group has garnered accolades, including being recognized as the Most Performing Volunteer Group in Davao City. Their unwavering dedication and selflessness have made them an indispensable part of our community's safety net.

Through the sponsorship of Matt Keane, VP of Guaranteed Rate and Vanessa Pollock, CEO/Founder of Pollock Properties Group and Founder of Care Serve Give, the Community Heroes Program was able to make a tangible impact on the Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade. The program provided seven brand-new pairs of firefighter boots and a gift check for a one-month supply of food. These donations not only symbolize our appreciation for their service but also help equip them for the challenging and often perilous situations they encounter daily.

A Heartwarming Encounter of Dave M:

As part of the program, Dave had the privilege of personally delivering the donations to the Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade. Admittedly, he was initially nervous, unsure of how to approach these strangers who dedicated their lives to serving others. However, accompanied by two churchmates, his confidence was boosted as they embarked on this meaningful journey.

Upon arriving at their station, they were greeted warmly by a group of trainees who had just completed their training. Despite being drenched from their exercises, their enthusiasm and excitement were palpable as they welcomed them. Together, we proceeded to their office, where the leaders awaited us.

Sharing Stories of Dedication:

As we unboxed the boots, the Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade shared with us the history of their volunteer group and how it has flourished over the years. Their narratives were captivating, particularly the story of one volunteer who has dedicated 21 years of service to the team. What struck me the most was learning that these individuals serve wholeheartedly without any financial compensation, not even a single cent. Their dedication and selflessness exemplify the true spirit of community heroes.

What Drives Their Courage:

Curiosity compelled me to ask what motivates them to continue, considering the risks they face in their line of duty. It became clear that most of them had experienced firsthand the devastating effects of fire, having lost their homes and possessions. Their personal experiences fueled their passion for preventing such tragedies and inspired them to stand as guardians within our community.

Throughout our conversation, gratitude flowed freely. We spent nearly an hour expressing our appreciation for their service, with emotions running high. The Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade was deeply moved to know that their sacrifices were acknowledged and that there are individuals like yourself who support and value their endeavors. It was a profound reminder that acts of kindness and encouragement can have a profound impact on those who dedicate their lives to serving others.

Walking in Their Boots:

During the visit, the volunteers insisted I try on the firefighter boots they wear on duty. The weight of the boots was eye-opening, making me realize the physical challenges they face while carrying out their duties. It served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices they make daily and the significance of equipping them with the necessary gear.

As our time together drew to a close, I expressed heartfelt gratitude for their service and offered words of encouragement to continue their inspiring work. I also had the privilege of offering prayers for these courageous volunteer firefighters, acknowledging the risks they take to protect our community.

The successful completion of the Community Heroes Program, made possible by the generous sponsorship of Matt Keane & Vanessa Pollock, has created a lasting impact on the Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade. This remarkable group of individuals exemplifies the spirit of selflessness and dedication that inspires us all. As we look ahead, let us continue to support and celebrate these unsung heroes within our community, and let this program serve as a stepping stone for future endeavors that make a tangible difference in the lives of those who sacrifice so much for the greater good. Together, we can shape a brighter future for our community. Thank you for your invaluable support.
