How Did You Get Started/Become Interested In Design?
My Mom always created a beautifully designed space in all 8 homes i lived in with her when i was growing up. She's not a designer but she's a real artist and always says that "presentation is everything". She says that each room must "flow" and i have carried that with me innately into each of my homes - personal or professional. Mom’s style and my style are very different, but the foundation she set is strong!
Personal Decor Style: Organic Contemporary
Favorite Color(s): Black, White and Caramel
Most Treasured Item: My Dad's handmade pottery
Weirdest Decor Idea: Probably my current foyer! I left a wall half unpainted with the paint brush strokes exposed, as a symbol of how life is unfinished and never perfect
Best Design Advice: Edit. Look at the room and then take something away. Oh, and Design it with what you really LOVE, not what the trends say you should love!
Worst Mistake Made: Probably the orange striped kitchen walls I painted in our East Village walkup!
Favorite Place To Shop: Meus, Maplewood Mercantile. Homegoods, World Market, Wildly Floral, A Paper Hat, Ikea, Facebook Market, Cb2, Target, Lulu & Georgia, Garage Sales

TOWN you live in: West Orange

How did you get started/become interested in design? (5-7 sentences): I have always had a visual eye and when I got married almost 50 years ago, I had so much fun decorating our little apartment. I have always liked antiques and would mix old and new furniture right from the beginning. That aesthetic has carried over to 5 more houses. I love texture. I find it rich.
Personal Decor Style: Farmhouse, Cozy, inviting
Favorite Color(s): I always lean towards fall colors and neutrals
Most Treasured Item: Pictures of my family!
Weirdest Decor Idea: When I painted my son’s nursery the brightest yellow you ever saw and it had southern exposure so it was truly blinding!
Best Design Advice: Decorate with things that bring you joy
Worst Mistake Made: See above!
Favorite Place to Shop: Pottery Barn, West Elm, my old friend Ilene who was a decorator and I would shop my antiques in her house, CB2, Crate and Barrel
Favorite Design(er) Social Media Account: Don’t really have one
Overhead lighting or Lamp O'Clock? I tend to go with overhead lighting and cool chandeliers
Best Room in the House? My den/office. My desk faces the lake in front of my house.

Role at PPG: Realtor/Sales Associate
How did you get started/become interested in design? My mom! Oh wow, she had an eye - she was a trained artist turned Realtor, and I tried to absorb everything she ever said, and I took her opinion very seriously. When I came home from college, the fireplace had been re-tiled - by her, and by hand, with different repurposed found artifacts, like a cool button, or broken tiles, mirror etc - or the front living room had always been repainted, she had reupholstered a chair etc etc. She loved to play.
Personal Decor Style: Whatever I like - I like to mix pieces! Something antique with something newer, black and white with a pop of color, NOTHING that “matches” or is a “set”.
Favorite Color(s): I love black and white with warm wood tones. I am really feeling green lately, and I always love a pop of pink.
Most Treasured Item: Anything that belonged to my mom, specifically her pressed metal coffee table that’s now in my great room.
Weirdest Decor Idea: I can’t think of anything, though I am sure I have done something(s) weird!
Best Design Advice: “It’s just paint!”
Worst Mistake Made: There was a period of time where everything I bought was a black rectangle - dining table, TV bench, console table, hutch etc etc. And now I have a house full of black rectangles that I am slowly replacing one at a time.
Favorite Place to Shop: Target, Arhaus, CB2, Anthropologie, HomeSense/HomeGoods, and dabbling in Facebook Marketplace
Favorite Design(er) Social Media Account: Chris Loves Julia, Amber Lewis
Overhead lighting or Lamp? Both. Give me a great light fixture, or give me great lamps, but always give me dimming options.
Best Room in the House? Our great room with the 7’ paned window, huge tall ceilings, and gorgeous wooden beams.

How did you get started/become interested in design? When I was little I loved Barbie dolls, but we could never afford that darn Barbie mansion. My mother got me a suitcase of colored foam shapes at the art gallery, and with them I designed a huge Barbie complex that took over the entire front porch. It was epic, and I’m not sure how she lived through it!?? When I got to middle school, my mother let me do an interior design update to the front porch by myself. I hit the local Kmart and Pier One! I did the floral wallpaper borders (buckle up, you know those will come back in style!), and the creative process made my heart so happy! I’d also rearrange my bedroom every month from a very young age- somehow single handedly dragging my heavy brass bed across the yellow shag carpet month after month. Just the joy and seeds of something that truly fills my soul!
Personal Decor Style: I’ve always let the architecture of our home play into the decor style. We gutted and rebuilt our current 1880 house to look like it could have all been original. I’d say I'm exploring a classic, cozy, eclectic, minimalistic, indecisive, budget friendly style ha!
Favorite Color(s): I’m loving deep, rich tones right now. I love a deep blue, a deep burgundy, a deep green.
Most Treasured Item: It’s fairly minimalist in our house, so there's not much I couldn’t part with besides my family! I was finally gifted my mothers gold rimmed china a couple of years ago. I’d been staring at it with love and admiration since I was a little girl. She had it displayed so beautifully on her oak hutch. We use it multiple times a year – I think china should be used often!!!
Weirdest Decor Idea: Probably the weirdest part of the way we’ve lived, is the lack of decor! We’ve renovated three houses in the past 10 years, so we’ve spent a lot of time in rooms with no drywall, no furniture, and no water! We’ve lived in a limbo that would drive most people crazy. With my analysis paralysis, sometimes it takes years to commit to hanging art on the wall!
Best Design Advice: I think we underestimate how the energy of our homes affect our life. It’s important to decorate your home in a way that feels like a big hug when you step in! It should reflect who you are, and feel like your own personal, beautiful, creative escape.
Worst Mistake Made: I feel at peace with all of the good and the bad- so nothing stands out!
Favorite Place to Shop: Facebook marketplace!!! I’m obsessed with the vintage, unique, random, quality items you can find for a bargain!
Favorite Design(er) Social Media Account: Jean Stoffer has been a big inspiration, I also love eyeswoon, renovationhusbands, jonaevilleneuveelle, the home bird, thegratzlife and so many more!
Overhead lighting or Lamp? Cozy lamps all the way! I rarely turn on our recessed lighting.
Best Room in the House: We spend 95% of our time in our kitchen! I love it so much! After three years, there’s nothing I would change. When I come back from being away on a trip, I see our kitchen and love her all over again.

How did you get started/become interested in design?
My mom and grandma. They really taught me to observe my surroundings and take everything in. They both have such a love for design and creating spaces that evoke not only comfort, but style. I remember my parents dragging my sisters and I from antique store to antique store on the weekends or when we were traveling. It wasn’t until I got to high school that I really started to appreciate what developing my own style meant to me.
Personal Decor Style:
Oh I am all over the place!! Whatever speaks to me. I would say I am a maximalist at heart. I love bold colors and mixing and matching patterns. More is more in my opinion.
Favorite Color(s): Varying shades of blue, florals
Most Treasured Item:
That’s a hard one! My home is very curated. Almost everything I own has a story behind it. Whether I found it on Facebook Marketplace, at an estate sale or it was passed down to me, I treasure a lot of items in my house. I would probably say personal artwork that’s been gifted to me and my wall of dogs, which I am always adding to!
Weirdest Decor Idea:
I don’t think it is weird, but a lot of people are surprised to see all the dogs related home decor items I own… I absolutely love dogs, so I figured why not collect them if they bring me joy.
Best Design Advice:
Your home should reflect your personal taste and personality and that might take some time to figure out! Embrace your interior design journey. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to decorating your home. Forget the “rules” and trends that dictate how your space should look. Start by identifying pieces that you love—whether it’s a cozy armchair, a vibrant piece of artwork, or a quirky lamp. These elements should resonate with you and make you happy every time you see them. Nothing is permanent and don’t worry about what others think; if you love it, it belongs in your home.
Worst Mistake Made: Some of my purchases have been questionable… sometimes I can walk the line of too granny. But that’s the fun part! Nothing is permanent and you can always change things up!
Favorite Place to Shop: Anthropologie, John Derian, Zara, Ballard Designs, Estate Sales, FB Marketplace, EBay, Mercari, Poshmark
Favorite Design(er) Social Media Account: Patrick Mele, Bunny Williams, Summer Thornton Design, too many to mention!
Overhead lighting or Lamp? Lamps. I love how they create a relaxing, inviting atmosphere that overhead lighting just can’t provide.
Best Room in the House? My front sunroom. I recently changed it up and added a banquette and have been living in there. From my morning coffee to zoom calls, it is the perfect place to work and relax.
