Pollock Properties Group is so proud to provide these beautiful tables and to honor the incredible teachers at Seth Boyden! Many of our kids on the team went to Seth Boyden and we know the love and hard work these teachers pour into the kids. Since design and staging is a huge part of what we offer our clients, we know what a difference some paint and new furniture can make in a space! It was a no-brainer to help buy these gorgeous tables and help bring Sarah Gee's design to life! Thank you to Anna and everyone who took part in this important project, and THANK YOU TO OUR TEACHERS!!!

Here’s the BACKSTORY of this AMAZING PROJECT!!!

Our Teachers' Lounge for several years was the old computer lab and as the name would indicate hadn't been touched much since the '80s/'90s?  So when I started with the Seth Boyden PTA, my first passion project was to revamp that space.  All of the furniture was clearly second hand, nothing matched, stained, old, plus the room was dreary.  But then, the new additions started at the elementary schools and we were told the Teachers' Lounge would move, so we held off until we could see the "new" space.  Well, this year it had moved, but into a space that had served many, many different purposes over the years and had the scars to prove it.  The paint on the walls was a terrible yellow, with patches and stains and flaking bits scattered throughout.  And they simply moved the terrible old, second hand furniture into this "new" space that just emoted neglect.  So I reached out to a SB alumni parent, Sarah Gee of Sarah Gee Interiors, and I asked for help reimagining the space to make it functional, but also a room teachers would actually want to use.   We knew that all of the furniture had to go and be replaced, but we also needed the room to be painted (at the very least! Truthfully, we would have loved to have gotten some 'wood' flooring put in!). Sarah helped create a beautiful palate, with a two-toned paint for the walls, all new furniture and design.  It was all very exciting!

BEFORE PHOTOS

The PTA, as much as we wanted to recreate this room for the teachers (afterall, they are soo deserving!), didn't feel right using the PTA budget on this room as the funds raised for the PTA are intended to be used on and for the children and this was the one room in the whole school where kids are excluded.   So we sought out to find donations of goods and services and sponsors.  We were elated when Wilbur of Wilbur's Painting offered to paint the entire space for free!  However, the district would get in the way by denying our color request as well as making it incredibly difficult to have an outside vendor do work in the building.  BUT I was able to get the district to promise to repaint the Teachers' Lounge over spring break - the new 'adult' color of a very light shade of grey.  And they did!  So, with the room newly painted, we quickly got to work obtaining the furniture pieces needed to get the room ready for a big reveal during Teacher Appreciation Week!  Many generous parents donated items, some pooling money from their classroom parents.  We almost had everything covered, except the new tables and time was running out! That's when Vanessa so graciously offered to sponsor the cost of the new tables for us from her team at Pollock Properties Group.  I can't tell you how grateful we were to be able to complete this project.  With a mighty crew of volunteers one Saturday, we were able to take out all of the old furniture and build and install all the new and OH MY WORD!  Everyone loves it!!  It's truly amazing what a coat of paint and new furniture/a new design can do!  The room isn't that big, but now it feels so much bigger and our teachers certainly feel appreciated!  We are so humbled and proud to have been able to do this for our amazing teachers and we seriously couldn't have done it without the generosity of so many!

From the bottom of my heart,
thank you Pollock Properties Group,
for helping our dreams become a reality!
